Co-Washing Hair for Growth Challenge

Hey Ladies!

In the last year, I have tried at least four different hair styles due mainly to my sisters' influence. I went from straight to curly, from long to short, and even ventured out into different colors. Last week I decided to cut my baby one last time for the next 12 months, and I must say I am not used to this length at all. One of my lovely sorority sisters told me about a series of blogs and youtube videos addressing healthy hair growth and different techniques to just have longer and stronger hair.

I would like to share some of these techniques with you and welcome you to be part of the Summer Co-washing Hair for Growth Challenge. One of the most helpful websites I found is http://www.patienceforlonghair.com, however feel free to go youtube and look at the videos. Ladies I suggest you join this online community because it has a lot of wonderful tools you can use to make sure your hair growth is continuous and healthy.

2009 Summer Co-Washing Hair for Growth Challenge

This summer I will be growing my hair for 2 months from June 9th to August 9th by following a strict regime to get my hair to be longer and healthier before I go back to school.

I will be using the following products:
  • Shampoo and Conditioner by Organic Olive Oil
  • Deep Conditioner by Organic Olive Oil
  • Moisturizer by Organic Olive Oil
  • Growth Oil by Organic Olive Oil
***Note: If you already have a set of products you use, do not change them just get the matching products you do not have.**
  1. Wash your hair with the conditioner (co-wash) at least 2 times a week .
  2. After you wash your hair make sure you seal the moisture with the growth oil.
  3. Wash your hair with the shampoo, conditioner and deep condition your hair one a week (preferably on weekends).
  4. After you wash your hair make sure you seal the moisture with the growth oil.
  5. After you seal in the moisture, air dry your hair or use cool heat to dry it.
  6. Once your hair is dried, you can wrap it or set it any way you want.
Please let me know your progress and post pictures to show your growth! I will be updating you all on my progress on a by weekly basis!

This is my before photo, which I will repost once I have reached my deadline.

Good luck and Enjoy your regime!

Is The Recession, Causing Unemployment Depression!

How long are we going to stay in this recession people?

I been looking for a summer job/internship since March and I am still unemployed. It is so depressing, because everywhere I go people tell me they do not have money for interns because the recession has forced them to cut their budget! I applied to over 60 jobs and only heard back from 15, 10 of which where unpaid! I don't want to be rude, but who wants to work for free? Everyone has bills, and financial responsibilities some type of monetary compensation is necessary.

It is so frustrating to go out looking for work and getting no for an answer, or having to stay at home due to the lack of employment. I have been trying to deal with this issue for the last three weeks to the best of my ability and it has been one of the hardest things I have done. I am convinced I have been suffering from Unemployment Depression. I have found myself really down at the fact that I cannot find a job.

So how have I dealt with this depression?

For Starters, I got a hobby! I began blogging more, I have found a lot of interesting posts which I will share with you all.

Secondly, I began an unpaid internship with Social Services of Hip Hop. Please check out the website-sshiphop.com, and follow us on twitter at twitter.com/sshiphop.

Lastly, I have been spending a lot of time at home. Mommy always said "if you do not have enough money to pay for your cab, food, drinks, and any emergency stay home" Lets just say I am staying home for a while! I am still looking for a paid position but in the mean time I am going to invest my time into being productive!

Please let me know how you are dealing with this recession and what tips do you have for those who are going through unemployment depression!
